Metropolis of Thessaloniki

The Metropolis of Thessaloniki implemented the project titled: “Digitization & Documentation, Supply of Material Management Application & Development of a Virtual Museum and Digital Applications for the Metropolis of Thessaloniki (HMT)”, with the company DOTSOFT S.A. as the contractor.

The project included a series of digitization and documentation activities for ecclesiastical relics, as well as the development of management systems and digital applications aimed at preserving and promoting the heritage of the Metropolis of Thessaloniki.

With its many years of experience in developing applications and providing digitization services for cultural and historical content, DOTSOFT S.A. undertook the following tasks:

  • Digitization, processing, and scientific documentation of the digitized material, along with the protection and management of relics dating from 1830 onwards (including ecclesiastical books, icons, photographs, and more)
  • Creation of a Virtual Museum of Ecclesiastical Art, covering the period from 1830 to the present day
  • Development of digital exhibitions incorporating Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications
  • Creation of virtual tours of the Metropolis building, its Ecclesiastical Museum, and the surrounding areas
  • Development of a digital platform for educational applications targeting children and young people
  • Creation of Digital Museum Kits, a system for generating enhanced and augmented presentations

The project was co-financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund) and national funds through the Public Investment Program, and was completed within five months.
